In the Kanto Plain of Japan, high schools in the area are little more than fronts for what appear to be nothing more than gangs who all wear a strange earring. Within these schools, students fight to be the top-rated fighters in order to represent their school at the very unofficial Great Fighter's Tournament. However, what appears to be nothing more than thugs fighting street battles is in reality ancient Chinese history coming back to replay itself in modern times with students having names of various warriors from that time.

Photon Earth is a powerful pre-teen boy who lives with his adopted sister, the young (and also powerful) teenaged Aun. After Aun runs off to attempt to be with her rock-idol, Photon goes off to bring her home. In the process, he stumbles across the wreckage of a spacecraft. Inside in stasis is the 20-something Keyne, who's come to this 'Sandy Planet' (aka: Earth) to find the legacy of her grandfather and the secrets of Aho, a technology that endows the user with incredible power.

Fuu-chan is working as a waitress in a tea shop in the era of the samurai in Japan. She meets Mugen, a strange samurai warrior who looks like he's break dancing when he fights. For 100 dumplings, he agrees to help her when some local thugs, who work for the magistrate's sone, try to cut off her finger.
