Takamachi Nanoha is a 3rd grader elementary school girl, who lives with her parents and her older sister and brother (last seen in Triangle Heart). One day after school, she hears a voice in mind, which leads her to rescue a small animal (a ferret?) in the forest. The animal is actually an archeologist-mage from another world, named Yuuno-kun, who is attempting recover 21 dangerous Jewels Seeds that are scattered across the Earth. Yuuno had been fighting a loosing and desperate battle with a magic beast that emerged from an activated Jewel Seed, and he asks for Nanoha's help (and magic) in assisting him to defeat the beast and in recovering the other Seeds. So, with Yuuno-kun's help, and by activating the magic in the jewel raging heart', Naoha can transform into a magic girl, complete with a magic-power-staff, to save her city from the dangers of the Jewel Seeds.

Juraihelm is a world looking for a new queen. The finalists are Romio, who promises to continue the work of the previous queen; Ramia, who has an extensive plan to improve Juraihelm; and Tsunami, who only wants to plant flowers. Somehow Tsunami is chosen, but before she can be officially made queen, she has to choose a magical girl on Earth to defeat evil and restore the Gemini scales. Romio conceeds but Ramia is determined to defeat Tsunami at all costs.
