Hurtling down the track, careening around, over and through the competition, Speed Racer is a natural behind the wheel. Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized-the legendary Rex Racer - whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. |

The Sky Crawlers |
This film is very different from the kinds of movies Mamoru Oshii is usually known for. Apparently, however, he was influenced to work on such an unusual project by two major events that happened this year in his personal life. Oshii's daughter was married earlier this year, and Gabriel, his beloved basset hound, passed away at the age of thirteen. |

Ultraviolet Code 044 |
Early plot summaries describe the show as an ongoing war between a race of vampires and a genetically engineered heroine named 044, not unlike the one played by Milla Jovovich in the film. Dezaki is joined on the Ultraviolet anime by character designer and animation director Akio Sugino, who's collaborated with him on everything from the pulpy, violent Golgo 13 anime to shojo classics like Rose of Versailles and the 1973 sports anime Aim for the Ace. Ultraviolet: Code 044 looks to be Dezaki's first work with an American property since his storyboard duties on Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates (wiki) in 1990. |
