The End of the Edo Era was also the end of the Age of the Samurai. The arrival of the Westerners with their new ways and weapons was generating turmoil and chaos throughout Japan. The members of the Kakunojou Yuuyama Theater Troupe have spent ten years seeking to revenge the death of their Master. Saya Otonashi lives peacefully with her adoptive family in Okinawa. The man that she proudly calls dad has adopted both her, her younger brother Riku and her troublesome older brother Kai. In the past year the four of them, once strangers, have formed a close loving family, but Saya wonders why she does not have any memories older than a year. Everything changes with the appearance of a monster called a Chiropteran. At school one night, a teacher is murdered before her eyes and Saya is attacked by a murderous creature. A mysterious young man carrying a cello appears and saves her, but he hands her a strange sword and tells her to fight. Why does her dad know so much about these monsters? And who is this cello player named Haji, someone who is now following Saya around - insisting on serving her? |

The story begins when high school student Mutou Kazuki is killed one night saving a mysterious girl from a monster, only to wake up and find it was only a dream. However, he soon finds out how real that dream was when a giant serpentine monster attacks him and his sister. Tsumura Tokiko, the girl from his dream, explains that the monster is a homunculus. Kazuki had been attacked and killed by it when rescuing Tokiko, however the girl revived him by placing a kakugane in his chest. |
