Itou Makoto, a shy and unconfident teenager, has become very accepting at only stealing glances at a cute girl as they ride the same trolley each morning on their way to their high school - at least until Saionji Sekai, sitting next to him in the classroom, surprises him and chances to get a peek at a photo-snap of the beautiful Katsura Kotonoha on his cell-phone. To Makoto's surprise, Sekai offers to support him in his romance - and due to her commitment the three soon become close friends. Close enough that Makoto braves asking Katsura out on date. And she agrees. Later that day, Makoto finds a quiet moment to express his thanks for all support that Sekai has offered him, and makes clear his intent on finding away to reply her kindness. But he is totally unprepared and very surprised at the reward that Sekai has chosen: Sekai steals a long kiss from his lips, ended only by her breaking away to run for a commuter-tolley. Before Sekai boards the train, she turns and wishes Makoto well on his date.

(One episode watched):

This was pretty neat. I'd be rather frustrated at the prospect of never knowing how things will work out, except that I already knew there's a TV version on the way. The animation was kind of crude, with blurry, unfocused images, but that was a small problem since the drama and dialogue were so intriguing. Knowing that one of the girls just might be driven to try to kill another is both disturbing and also adds an element of excitement. Maybe, when a series is based on a dating sim game, several alternate endings could be made, and all of them broadcast; somebody ought to give it a try!

P.S: Having finally seen the TV series in it's entirety, it is clear that this OVA had a quality greater than any one TV episode. It raised my expectations higher than that series could match--which just shows how intriguing this OVA is. Just don't get your hopes up too high.

Looks like an interesting little triangle story - Sekai is seriously cool IMHO (reminding me of Akiho from Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu).
If only there were more episodes released - episode 2 was scheduled for May 2005 but hasn't been fansubbed yet. Fortunately I have the real deal with Suzuka for the time being...

At first I wondered about the low cell count. Lots of places where people were talking but no one was moving. I did some research to find out this is a screen cap of a game that is currently running and this is the first 20 minutes of it. Not a bad game. The possibilities of the cappers doing another reproduction of the 2nd section is a bit slim though. Owells, it has a nice story and it has 16 possible endings ranging from a Hscene with Sekai and Katsura to one where You leave Katsura for Sekai and Katsura takes a butcher knife and slices Sekai's jugular vein. YIKES!

What a very rare anime series this is. This is a high school romance-drama, (with no fanservice, harem, monsters, magic, robots and with very little comedy.) Granted this series is being offered via the web as an advertisement for a dating-sim by the same name, but I am still impressed. While the artwork is detailed and lavish, the story is very simple. The entire focus of the first (23minute) episode is on the three main characters, which makes watching the story more intimate and cozy.

Watching how Itou Makoto and Saioji Sekai interact with each other, one might wonder why Sekai did not put a romantic move on Makoto. Perhaps both Makoto and Katsura, while being shy, are very honest with their feelings, while the noisy and nosey Sekai is the least honest and most shy about expressing her feelings.

But at least Sekai proves herself brave enough to express how she feels at the end of the first episode, leaving the poor Makoto in an emotional quandary.

More later … If you enjoy romance stories, then this a series to watch.
