This is an aftermath episode. In theory, I rather enjoy aftermath episodes because one gets to see people carry on with their lives once the big conflict has been resolved. Unfortunately, a lack of answers torpedoes this one. As I said in my review of Tide-Line Blue, the anime suffered from a serious lack of answers. So in the aftermath, I would have enjoyed seeing some of my questions answered. Unfortunately, I still don't know who the father of Isla's baby is. A reference was made by Tean and Keel in mild argument that she loved one of them, but loved her baby most. So no moves on a romantic front beyond Isla and Aoi joking about getting a man. Oh, and Isla is back selling her handmade jewlery. Whatever. Aoi, as Secretary General, is like a doting Grandma to Isla's child. She even brings the baby to U.N. meetings. She's going to share the map of the Earth with the world. Shock, gasp, horror. Yet I found myself not interested. The only thing that did interest me was a flashback scene where Tean recalls a much younger, uninjured Captain Gould and a U.N meeting they were attending. So it was neat seeing how Gould came to look the way he does, as well as how Tean became one of the ranking officers. Bottom line: Beautiful, but mostly dull. With so many questions still unanswered, if you happened to miss this episode, you won't have missed much.Last updated Tuesday, May 23 2006. Created Tuesday, May 23 2006. | ||||||||
