Seirei no Moribito
This is one of those stories similar to Juuni Kokuki (12 Kingdoms), but not quite as involving or powerful. The plot itself was different from your typical epic/heroic/adventure series in that it didn't portray your usual "save the world" or "save the kingdom" plot. Instead, it revolves around a lone warrioress (is that a real word?).... female warrior, trying to protect a child for both personal reasons and upon the request of the child's mother. One of the good things about this series is that the protagonist isn't depicted as an unstoppable, all-powerful figure that never gets hit or damaged. Instead, during the course of the series, its discovered that she (protagonist) really "is" human and gets seriously wounded, beat up and meets her match more than once.
The only thing that I didn't think was that great was some of the character designs. Most notibly, the "ancient" looking 4ft,2-inch grandma with the turbin...hehehe. Besides that, most of the other characters seemed to fit their profile.
Although not quite as grand or epic as Juuni Kokuki (12 Kingdoms). It was still a worthy series and comes really close to a "Buy" rating. Overall, it was a pretty good series.
