Goeman getting married what?!?! I love the Fuma Conspiracy!!! Ninja's versus the Rupan crew what more do you want? This was one of the first anime's i watched, and I watched it again yesterday...Still one of the better Rupan stories, Fuma gives you a very cool badguy, a nice storyline, and a cool ending...I like alot of Goemon action and this story definitely had it...

The story has Goemon getting married to the sweet, cute Murasaki. Goemon will be inducted into her clan and charged with protecting a vase which contains the secret to a hidden family treasure. The rival Fuma Clan crashes the party before the "I do's" can be said and kidnap Murasaki. This gets Lupin (or Rupan as AnimEigo is forced to call him) and gang involved in rescuing the girl and getting the treasure for themselves.
The story is pretty interesting and the treasure was cool. However, what is it with all of the hidden treasure in Lupin's world? But I digress... All of the characters get to do their thing and Zenigata has a better role in this one. His primary purpose is just to be a thorn in Lupin's side as one might expect. While the "Lupin Physics" abound in this title, there wasn't as much humor involved. In fact I don't recall laughing once. Another problem I had was the relationship with Goemon and Murasaki. While I believed that Goemon cared about her, I never believed he was "in love" with her. If the writers had made the couple do some "couple things" like kiss, hold hands, the romance would have been more believable. As it is, she gives him the loving "school girl" looks and he just is embarrassed. If you are so embarrassed, why marry the girl? And how they dump her at the end so that future Lupin titles aren't saddled with her was just stupid! This is why I couldn't give it a "buy" rating. Bottom line: An enjoyable movie. The English dub is pretty good though different. AnimEigo did a good job on subtitles (IMO). Last updated Saturday, October 11 2008. Created Saturday, April 05 2003.

This is a delightful romp from beginning to end. While not quite on the level of Castle of Cagliostro, it still delivers a ton of thrills, action, suspense, double-crosses, fantastic treasure, and a huge underground labyrinth that would make a D&D gamemaster green with envy. I was afraid that Goemon's girl would be annoying, but Murasaki turned out to be believably charming and able to hold her own with the rest of the characters. One odd thing about this movie-length OVA is that the Japanese voice actors are almost completely different from the usual Lupin cast. However, this gives us the unexpected treat of hearing Furukawa (the voice of Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura) play Lupin. The Lupin series is known to vary widely in quality. This is one of the good ones, so grab it! Last updated Friday, August 10 2001. Created Thursday, August 09 2001.
