TOTAL GRADE: 84% B MERMAIDS SCAR is a wonderful example of the range Rumiko Takahashii has as a write. Greatly unlike her other series such as RANMA ½, MAISON IKKOKU, and LUM, the MERMAID SAGA are tales of the macabre that can be not only very interesting but extremely disturbing. The premise is almost always dark as a tale unfolds that is capable of chilling your spine. Truly, MERMAIDS SCAR serves as one of the better examples of the series with its story as its not only a fan favorite but, in my opinion Takahashii-sans most interesting piece of writing I am privileged to read. If you like a tale with a twist and a little darker than most like their anime, this is a title not to be missed. Me personal recommendation is to obtain the three part graphic novel mangas of the series as best you can. These series is exemplary.
