Compared to the first season, this second season of Digimon Adventures didn't grab my interest as much. With acception to Ken, the new characters lacked the depth and problems that the first season kids interested me with. Not to mention that the three new characters seemed too similar in personality to the first season kids. Ken is pretty much the saving grace of the new characters introduced as his background is perhaps the darkest of all the Digi-destined children I've seen in all of the Digimon seasons. Having a human villian made for an interesting premise with Ken though as smart as he was, he never thought about controlling a Mega-level (Ultimate for Japanese watchers) Digimon if he wanted to stop the Digi-destined from being thorns in his side. The visuals and other aspects to the plot are about what you would expect of generic titles: average artwork, reused animation clips, plain character designs, the run-of-the-mill 'evil' Digimon villians, Digimon being beaten to a pulp before their partners gain the power within to defeat villians, and so forth. Having Ken and the presence of the season 1 kids pretty much kept me watching this season of Digimon Adventures. Ah, yes, a nice second season to continue the adventures of the Digi-destined. Some of the new characters are lame, animation is so-so but hey, it's great. Watch, rent buy or avoid? You decide.

Even though I haven't seen all of it by now, I could say that Digimon 02 makes a good enoygh second part for Digimon 01. The new chracters, (Kari and T.K. are part of the second group) are good enough, though they might appear too much like the original characters in 01. Also the newly found ability to enter and exit the Digital World adds some to the plot. It might not be as grat as 01, but it's certainly a good second part, we'll have to wait to see 03.
