Saga is now 17 and the Hammond Theater Troupe is coming back to town. When she comes home one day, her grandma finds a dress of Saga's from when she was in grade school and played a princess in a school play. She played the princess while rival Greta played a wicked witch. This play inspired Sugar-tachi to make a play of their own. Will Saga get over her stage fright?

[2-episode TV special. The sequel to Chicchana Yukitsukai Sugar.]

Since the ending of Sugar was so complete, there were only two ways to have a sequel. One was to ignore what Saga said at the end of the TV series and the other was to have a retcon episode taking place in the original series about something that wasn't shown in the original series. The later is how this went taking place after Sugar's magic flower had two buds.

To me, the story of Saga's school putting on a play, then the weather fairies putting on their own play was rather uninteresting. It was just pure filler and while it was nice to see the characters again, it just wasn't that compelling. What was more compelling was the beginning of the first episode and the end of the second episode where Saga is shown at 17. The ending was more compelling in that we get to see that even at 17, Greta is still obsessed with Saga, but yet she's older, prettier, and well I would have loved to have seen how everyone was doing now rather than have a flashback. Saga sees another boy talking to the air reminded me of the question I had when the TV series ended. Why did Sugar's departure mean that Saga can no longer see weather fairies? It made no sense to me other than to make sure there could be no sequels. And yet, we have a sequel.

Bottom line: worth a rent, especially for fans of the series. The story is nothing special, but seeing the older Saga and Greta was nice.
