Magical Twilight
Personally, I think hentai is only worthwhile when it pokes fun at sex and the cultural restrictions that are involved, instead of just displaying plentiful intercourse. Two-thirds of the way through Magical Twilight, I was going to summarize this three-episode series as "too much sex, not enough comedy", but the final episode represented a marked improvement and was kind of touching. I was reluctant to categorize this as "softcore", since more detail of the human anatomy below-the-belt (both male and female) was included than I'd ever seen before in anime. I could have done without the abundant oral sex. One curious feature was that a certain male appendage wasn't illustrated, but for all intents and purposes it had merely become invisible as it was put to good use (some sort of trick to avoid censorship, perhaps?). The cute and likeable Chipple and the forceful and seductive Irene are students of white magic, whereas Liv studies black magic, which sort of explains the differing objectives of the tests they are undergoing. All-in-all, not for the faint of heart, but still amusing enough to be worth a rent.
